The brief for this project was to completely renovate our clients early 1980’s Neutral Bay apartment to create contemporary open plan living. The owner was willing to push all design boundaries to significantly increase the functionality of the existing apartment.
With big ideas and clever consultants, the project boundaries were pushed. The existing two-bedroom apartment with maze like planning and an overgrown roof top courtyard was transformed. The result was a bright and light open plan apartment with uninterrupted views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, contemporary finishes and an additional bedroom, ensuite, pond and decked terrace to the roof top.
For this to be achieved good legal advice was sought, and smart structural engineering was applied as the existing internal load bearing walls were removed and replaced with multiple carbon fibre strips attached to the underside of the existing concrete slab.
